In 2011, I did a lot of traveling, and during July, I was gone for the first two weeks. As my itinerary was winding down, my two-year-old son began to ask for me more and more. He began to cry and pressurized his mother with questions of where I was. I remember speaking to him on the phone, assuring him I would be home on the following day, which was Saturday.

My flight was delayed, and I ended up getting into Houston at 1 AM on that Sunday morning. When I got in the car, Sir Michael was fast asleep. His mother told me he was trying to stay awake to see me. We got home, placed him in the bed, and with just a little light coming from a night light, I stood by him, rubbing his legs. He woke up with his face away from mine in that dimly lit bedroom. He recognized my touch and called me. He turned over while he was still asleep with a big grin on his face. He saw my face and reached out for a hug.

This month, I encourage you to recognize the touch of our Heavenly Father. There are many times, in the midst of dimly lit situations, where God will give us a touch of assurance to confirm we are never to fear anything, for the Lord, is with us (Psalm 23). I encourage you to be sensitive to recognize that special touch. It may be a phone call from someone unexpected, finding some money in the driveway, your child giving you a special hug or someone buying your lunch, or any thoughtful act of kindness. Look for it this month. Let God touch you, just for you to see that He is REAL.
